Recently a group of minors between the ages of ten and fourteen set fire to a parked school bus in Brooklyn, NY. The children were caught on a video surveillance tape and the identification process has begun. At least one has already been arrested. The school bus was parked in front of a large elementary school.
The bus was destroyed on a public street, just after 6pm during daylight hours. The attack is suspected of arson. Though the vehicle was completely destroyed there were no injuries.
Surveillance videos show the bus with the door wide open and over a half dozen boys entering and exiting the bus multiple times with cardboard boxes in hand. One can see from the videos, the bright light of a flame being ignited as the boys exit the vehicle. As the bus began to smolder, neighbors called 911 and fire fighters extinguished the flames.
Such an attack is shocking when one considers that a group of minors were at fault. Indeed an 11 year old has already been arrested. The kids were not deterred or intimidated by the busy public street or the fact that they acted in clear visibility. They may not have even noticed the bystanders and surveillance cameras that caught the crime on tape.
