In 1939 August 19th was designated as the official National Aviation Day by our 32nd president, Franklin Delanor Roosevelt.

The proclamation directed all federal buildings to fly the US flag on that day as well as encouraged citezens to mark the day with activities that promote the interest of aviation.

Considering how much aviation has advanced over the years, let’s take a look back at this fascinating 1960’s black and white feature produced by the US Navy. Enjoy!
